Body Language - Gestures

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

Elevating Your Professional Image is important for you and me.

"It helps you to make a good first impression and is the bridge to building rapport with colleagues and clients."

TO BE successful at work, you have to look the part, and you can get help to do this. Professional Image Management involves three important areas: creating a good FIRST IMPRESSION, understanding BODY LANGUAGE and incul-cating positive PERSONAL GROOMING HABITS.

Let talk about Body Language (Gestures) - 01 May'12

Gestures
Communicating with hand gestures is a common practice in every part of the world. Our gestures express our intentions. You might twist your fingers if you are nervous or clench your fists in finger. When you are networking, you want to appear poised, not anxious - so watch what you do with your hands

Also remember that not all gestures are universally understood. What is perfectly acceptable in Singapore may be rude in other cultures. For example, if you form a circle with your fingers to indicate "OK", American and British will understand what you mean, but Brazilians and Germans will find this gesture offensive. For Japanese, this sign means money. If you are meeting a multicultural group, be extra-cautious  about the signals you make so that you don't offend anyone and appear unprofessional.

Body Language - Posture

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

TO BE successful at work, you have to look the part, and you can get help to do this. Professional Image Management involves three important areas: creating a good FIRST IMPRESSION, understanding BODY LANGUAGE and incul-cating positive PERSONAL GROOMING HABITS.

Let talk about Body Language (Posture) - 30th Apr'14

In the communication process, body language - non-verbal signal that consist of body posture, gestures, facial expressions and eye movements - can tell people more about you than what you say.

Posture
If you sloppy or your shoulders are drooping and your head is down, you are giving a message to people that you care little about details and lack confidence. You are signaling that you are not the one they should seek out and get to know. And you may be turning them away even without being aware of it.

Command respect by standing tall. Hold your stomach in, chest out, pull your shoulders back and put your head up. Try planting your feet about six to eight inches apart with one slightly in front of the other. With good posture and a slight smile, you are giving others an opportunity to approach you.

First Impression

Hello, welcome to my blog!!

Elevating Your Professional Image is important for you and me.

"It helps you to make a good first impression and is the bridge to building rapport with colleagues and clients."

TO BE successful at work, you have to look the part, and you can get help to do this. Professional Image Management involves three important areas: creating a good FIRST IMPRESSION, understanding BODY LANGUAGE and incul-cating positive PERSONAL GROOMING HABITS.

 Let talk about 1st Impression - 29th Apr'14

You need to project a professional image because the people ou meet and work with form their impression about you from the way you look and how you project yourself. If they have negative thoughts about you, it will be harder for you to represent your company and  market its products effectively.

Making a good 1st Impression helps to opens doors for you. It is a bridge to building relationships with others.

Your attitude and behaviour are key to making a good impression. Keith Harrell, the author of "Attitude is everything", says: "Your attitude today determines your success tomorrow."

You need to have a positive mindset, which shapes positive attitudes and results in positive actions.
